1 Dominion: Intrigue
” You are a monarch, like your parents before you, a ruler of a small pleasant kingdom of rivers and evergreens. Unlike your parents, however, you have hopes and dreams! You want a bigger and more pleasant kingdom, with more rivers and a wider variety of trees. You want a Dominion! You will bring civilization to these people, uniting them under your banner. ThisFrom the back of the box: “Something’s afoot. The steward smiles at you like he has a secret, or like he thinks you have a secret. There are secret plots brewing, you’re sure of it. At the very least, there are yours. A passing servant murmurs ‘The eggs are on the plate.’ You frantically search your codebook for the translation before realizing he means that breakfast is ready. Excellent.
Everything is going according to plan.”
Dominion: Intrigue adds rules for playing with up to 8 players at two tables or for playing a single game with up to 6 players when combined with Dominion. This game adds 25 new Kingdom cards and a complete set of Treasure and Victory cards. The game can be played alone by players experienced in Dominion or with the basic game of Dominion.
2 Ticket to Ride We love this game! This a a good game for the whole family- requires very little reading and I have found kids from ages about 7 and up enjoy playing. It does not require alot of “thinking” although can get very strategic. Its a good game to sit around the table and gab :-) In our family this is probably
one of the most popular board games to play on a Friday night .
3 Settlers of Catan Board Game : (Fourth edition – 2007) Also check out Settlers of Catan – Portable Edition We LOVE this game! It is requires reading and strategy and I have seen kids as young as 6/7 play but to be honest I think ages 10 and up is about the right level. This is the quintessential homeschooling board game- very geeky- lots of fun!
If you are looking to expand your board game cupboard beyond the usual Scrabble and Monopoly start with Settelrs of Catan- you will love it!
5 Small World is a fun family game. easy to play and not too complicated. 2-5 players vie for conquest and control of a board that is simply too small to accommodate them all
6 Saboteur At under $15.00 this makes a great birthday gift stocking stuffer or hostess gift.
“You are dwarves digging for gold in the depths of a mine when suddenly, the pick-axe breaks, and the lantern goes out. The saboteur has struck again! But who is the saboteur and will he (or they!) stop you from reaching the treasure? If you succeed, gold awaits you. If you don’t, then to the victor goes the spoils. Whoever has the most gold nuggets after three rounds is the winner. A 3-10 player path-laying card game where each player has a role and no one knows for sure what that role is. ”
7 Stone Age” The times were hard indeed. Our ancestors worked with their legs and backs straining against wooden plows in the stony earth. Of course, progress did not stop with the wooden plow. People always searched for better tools and more productive plants to make their work more effective. In stone age, the players live in this time, just as our ancestors did. They collect wood, break stone and wash their gold from the river. They trade freely, expand their village and so achieve new levels of civilization. With a balance of luck and planning, the players compete for food in this pre-historic time. Risk and grow as your ancestors did. Only then the victory ring sings to you. For 2-4 players. Takes about 90 minutes to play. Tons of replay value.”
15 Wings of War miniatures : Fokker DR I Manfred von Richthofen (Germany)
16 LOTR: Middle-Earth Quest
23 Pandemic On The Brink An explanation pack for the AMAZING board game- Pandemic. One of the things I like most about this atypical board game is that it is co-operative and you don’t really compete against each other- you are scientists battling to save the world from a terrible plague.
24 Settlers Of Catan Board Game : 5-6 Player Extension (Fourth Edition – 2007) This expansion pack for the board game Settlers of Catan lets you play with more than 4 players.
