    Free Singapore Math Worksheets

We have been using the Singapore Math Free Singapore Math Worksheets, Printables and Resources
curriculum with much success and satisfaction for 2 years now. Singapore textbooks and workbooks are affordable and I suggest you purchase them A whole year costs about 40 for both textbooks and workbooks- you don’t need to buy anything else but the pencils. If you would like to test run the Singapore Math system bu all means try some of the free resources below.
I am compiling a list of free Singapore Math Worksheets and Printables. It has been a bit frustrating becasue so much spam and fake blogs out there.
Anything in list below is VERIFIED working site for Singapore math or Singapore Style math Worksheets, Printable or Resource.
If you offer Singapore math related information on your website or blog please send me email or make a comment in comments section and I will gladly add you!

Singapore Style Worksheets, tests and assessments found HERE

Not bad website that offers free 30 days and Singapore Style math worksheets HERE You can also do “online”.

http://www.1800-teacher.com Has several free resources- you do have to register and I found the registration process cumbersome.
The official Singapore Math site has excellent placement test if you are unsure where you child start. Don’t be alarmed if your “grade 3″ child tests at Primary 2- the system is different and Primary 2 is actually Grade 3 or higher level math.
Link for their placement assessment HERE

    Unschooling Works !

    By Lisa - Homeschooling Mom | September 9, 2011

I will admit that I have shifted from a more unschooling approach to more structured homeschooling that last couple of years.

It is still an ideal I believe in and will always encourage. I think circumstances change and sometimes it is no longer a viable solution for some families. For ME this would be my first choice.

My daughter Liz, was unschooled up until Grade 8 when she chose to go to school. We were lucky and found an excellent board run school.
My one area of concern was her math skills. I was confident that the biggest skill she had learned through unschooling was the ability to think for herself, her love of learning and the ability to figure out how to “teach” her self something when she needed to learn.
Basically critical thinking. All of her teachers were struck by her love of learning, thinking outside the box and how fast she could grasp complicated concepts.
Her math was absolutely no problem and in fact one of her higher marks. At the end of the year Liz not only passed- but passed with honours.
She got all 80′s and 90′s ! Oh- one exception – ART! She received quite a low mark in the 60′s/ I was not concerned in any way- the teachers comments were- she need to tone down her creativity!!!!
Also, during a parent teacher interview with her art teacher I made reference that her father is a professional artist- and had his own art studios as well as worked as illustrator for Disney- and that his love was Classical Realism. ( Classical Realism is STYLE of painting ie. Rembrandt, Titian, Da Vinci, etc) her remark- was I am not familiar with that MEDIUM ( medium refers to tools you use to create or paint i.e oils , acrylic, etc) WOW!!!! An art teacher who thinks classical realism is a MEDIUM?

This years Homeschooling and Schooling- Getting Back in the Swing of the Things

    By Lisa - Homeschooling Mom | September 9, 2011

Well- alot of changes this week. My eldest is now 14 and entering her first year of highschool.
She had been homeschooled- unschooled in fact up until Grade 8 when she wanted to try school. We were fortunate to have an excellent teacher and she had a good year. My thoughts were to help her integrate into the school system if that was her choice . She started a mainstream high school this week and so far is enjoying it. I have not met her teachers yet.

Also with the new school year brings more structure for my still homeschooled son. For various reasons I have chosen a more structured approach for him and we are back to doing more “regular” lessons.

    Using Singapore Match Curriculum

For math we follow the Singapore Math This years Homeschooling and Schooling Getting Back in the Swing of the Things curriculum and I have really liked it. It is broken down into manageable parts and easy to follow.
Its also affordable. A whole year 4 books costs about 40.00.

This year we are will continue with a homeschool drama group, learning co-op and gym program.

Trying FLY Lady Again and Giving Kids Chores

    By Lisa - Homeschooling Mom | June 24, 2011

Yes shined my sink this morning. It is BUFF. I am still in baby steps land but will get there. I did do FLYlady several years ago and trying it again. I did find it quite helpful and not sure why it fell by the wayside. FLY stands for Finally Loving Yourself- a concept I LOVE. Doing it for yourself and not out of guilt or outside pressures. I am trying to instill that into kids and not be heavy headed but want them to feel pride and peace that comes from organized home.

We decided to take on chores.. Something I said I would never do. I am finding keeping on top of housework overwhelming and building resentment.
I have spoken with kids and we agreed to have formal chores.
Before you think there is work camp going on in our home thee are the kids chores-
Son waters plants ( and we picked out plants for “him” at nursery this week ) , tidy his games up in Rec room daily and tidy shoes in front hall daily. He is almost 8.
My daughter (almost 14) has been taking out garbage on garbage night, emptying dishwasher and tidying her own bathroom. Back breaking I know.

We are starting off small and building it into our routines. So far I have been quite pleased. I long resisted assigned chores but now thinking it gives us all a sense of accomplishment and frankly its nice to live in clean house. We have tried the winging it and every one do as they please route but be honest didn’t work for us. Ther are no punishment or rewards for nit doing chores- clean and tranquil environment ( and mom!) is the reward. Honestly I think it has helped with feeling of community and accountability. The kids help each other and are more mindful that these kicked off shoes at door will have to be tidied by my brother.

I found couple of sites that had okay chores charts to print off. Not totally pleased with them but will do.
I welcome suggestion and links to chore charts you think are good :-)
